Orang Utan, or translated in Malaysian as “People of the Forest”, are the demure superstars of Borneo. To see one in the wild is not only rare, but is usually accompanied with holding one’s breath and wide eyed awe. On our visit to the Kinabatangan river earlier in our trip to Sabah, Borneo, we were fortunate enough to not only see one, but three wild Orang Utans.

On our third and final leg of our trip we made our way to Sepilok which is home to the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation center and the Rainforest Discovery Center. The Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre  was founded in 1964 to rehabilitate orangutans who are orphaned and unable to take care of themselves.
